Keeping members up to date with what is and has been happening within our Society

Summer Update '05

The July meeting was a BBQ and auction held at our Chairman's home in Kingsclere.

A total of 64 members and their guests had a wonderful afternoon, also having a chance to get some orchid goodies, (I know I did)

Stephen's wife Ursula did us proud with the spread she put on, our thanks to them both for their hospitality. I'm sure we all went away a few pounds heavier.

Orchid tips for now

Keep the watering and feeding regime up, not forgetting those plants outside.

If you change your fertilizers during the year you should be switching to a high potash feed now.

Be ever vigilant for Bugs this is perfect breeding weather.

British Orchid Growers Association - Show

On August Bank Holiday weekend Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th - BOGA will have an Orchid Fayre at Highfield Park, just outside Hook, on the B3349. Saturday 09·00 - 17·00 Sunday 10·00 - 16·00.

There will be some of the very best sellers from the UK, France, and from the US (if no problems from customs). It's not quite as big as Newbury but there are still plenty of plants to whet your appetite.

The Society will be putting on a display of our plants. David Martin and I will be there to accept plants from members who would like them to be put on the show table - clean plants, no bugs please and in black pots if possible.

We would like the plants between 13·00 - 14·30 on Friday 26th no later please, as we have limited time to put up the display. If any member would like to come along and give a helping hand with putting up the display they are most welcome.

Unfortunately we will not be able to collect any member's plants due to other commitments.
