SUNDAY 20th JANUARY — AUCTIONPlant Auction & Show Update.An informal afternoon centred round an orchid plant Auction offering all Members an opportunity to acquire additions to their orchid collections at very low cost, and for sellers to make space for some new plants! Stephen, our President, has agreed to be Auctioneer.
SATURDAY 16th FEBRUARY — NHOS ANNUAL SHOWThe Barn, Viables Craft Centre, The Harrow Way, Basingstoke, RG22 4BJ. 11·00 4·00.Come and enjoy the day, hundreds of beautiful orchids to admire and to buy, also the best opportunity of the year to stock up on all orchid growing needs such as specialist composts, clear pots, fertilizers, books etc.
SUNDAY **9th**MARCH — AGM & SHOW REVIEWThe AGM has been moved from JanuaryPlease attend today and be part of the decision making within our Society; you may even wish to consider offering your assistance in some way - are you able to help set up displays at Shows, take charge of the library books, help with teas or the raffle at monthly meetings, or fill a vacancy on the Committee? Please note this meeting is on the second Sunday instead of the third Sunday.
SUNDAY 20th APRIL — GROWING ORCHIDS HYDROPONICALLYAndy McKeownAndy is known to those of us who follow his contributions to Orchid-Talk and it is via this connection that I have managed to get him to agree to come to our meeting today to explain more about growing orchids hydroponically.
SUNDAY 18th MAY — ORCHID HUNTING IN CUBAPhilip SeatonWell known to many of us for his work in Orchid Conservation, Philip makes a welcome return to tell us of his experiences whilst looking for Orchids in Cuba.
SUNDAY 8th JUNE — OUTSIDE VISIT / ORCHID HUNTING IN HAMPSHIREMike SharmanMike has volunteered to lead us on an expedition into Hampshire countryside to look for British Wild Orchids in bloom. Exact Location, Time & Meeting Point to be confirmed. (There will be no meeting at the hall on 15th June as this clashes with the Peterborough International Orchid Show)
SUNDAY 20th JULY — GROWING HARDY ORCHIDS IN YOUR GARDEN & COLD GREENHOUSEMalcolm BrownswordOur talk today covers a variety of Hardy Orchids which grow wild in the UK and Europe, and how to successfully encourage them to grow for us in our gardens, frames and cold greenhouses. Calanthe (yes, I am assured some of these do grow cold), Cypripedium, Bletilla, Orchis, Dactylorhiza and Pleione are amongst those to be featured. Maybe this is the way forward in these days of escalating heating costs? Malcolm may have a few plants and seedlings available to sell today.

SUNDAY 21st SEPTEMBER — CATTLEYASPeter WhitePeter makes a welcome return to our Society, and talks today about the culture of both species and hybrid Cattleyas. Peter will have a Sales Table with a selection of plants and sundries.
SUNDAY 19th OCTOBER — MEMBERS' DAYAn opportunity for members to air their views on the future direction of the Society and a reminder that several members of the Committee will be standing down at the AGM in January. Please consider serving on the Committee in 2009.SUNDAY 16th NOVEMBER — A MONTH AT ECUAGENERADavid RidgewayDavid's talk today gives a brief outline of how Ecuagenera came to be set up, and how they propagate and grow their orchids. (Knowing how popular their stands are at Shows, always full of 'special gems', I think this will be an interesting insight into the orchid supply chain.)
SUNDAY 14th DECEMBER — CHRISTMAS SOCIALOnce again, time to bring along a plate of 'Festive Fare' and a raffle prize wrapped in Christmas paper, for a pre-Christmas afternoon with orchid friends.
